University “1 Decembrie 1918” Alba Iulia is structured into four faculties: the Faculty of History and Philology, with the following specializations: History, Archeology, Archives, Museum Sciences, Romanian Language and Literature- English Language and Literature, Romanian Language and Literature- French Language and Literature, French Language and Literature -English Language and Literature, the Faculty of Sciences, with the following specializations: Management Accounting and Informatics, Trade, Tourism and Services Economics, Business Administration, Finances-Banking, Marketing, Computer Science, Cadastral Survey, the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, with the following specializations: Law, Social Work, Sociology, Managerial Assistance and Secretarial Work, Pedagogy – Pre-School and Primary School Education, Public Administration, the Faculty of Orthodox Theology with the following specializations: Pastoral Orthodox Theology, Didactic Orthodox Theology, Social Theology.

The Departments functioning within University “1 Decembrie 1918” Alba Iulia are the following: The Computer Department, The Department for Scientific Research, The Department for Distance Learning (D.L.), The Teacher Training Department, The Department for International Relations and European Integration.

The University has the following research centers: the Multi-User Research Center in Systemic Archeology (Systemic Archaeology Institute); Pre- and Proto-historical Research Center; Historical and Political Theory Research Center of Excellence "Iuliu Maniu"; the Department for Teaching Staff Training and Perfecting; the Informatics and Mathematics Research Center; the Topography-Cadastre Research Center; the Center of Resources and Information in Social Profession; the Territorial Development Research Center; the Sociological Research Center.

Centrul de Cercetari pentru Dezvoltare Teritoriala (CCDT) is a research team that gathers a dozen researchers from different disciplines (economy, sociology, topography, geodesy, geography, computer sciences, legislation and social policies, modern languages) but a common fundamental objective: information production, representation and diffusion concerning spatial (territorial) development.

University “1 Decembrie 1918” put material resources at the disposal of CCDT: 3 conference rooms (over 100 places), 8 lecture rooms, 15 seminar rooms and 17 laboratories, one multimedia laboratory equipped with 17 Pentium IV HP computers and Internet connection, one e-library with software resources for documentation.
